Indigo seahorse safari

Launched in 2018 to turn seahorse poachers into seahorse protectors by focusing on ecotourism as a steady source of income. Over 500 tourists guided to snorkel with the seahorses in Mangalisse.

Bonguile Preschool Project

Over sixty three to five years old receive “learn through play” early childhood development lessons and daily porridge in a community-run preschool with support from a local hotel.

Mangrove Restoration project

Two communities are cultivating and restoring mangroves along the coast creating “blue jobs” that will help clean the sea and reduce carbon in the atmosphere.

SCHOOL FEEDING CHIGAMANE

Over five hundred school children in Chigamane fishing village consume hot porridge every day so they can focus at school. The project, supported by Santorini Mozambique Hotel, include other support to the school including school garden support and SAKs kits.

Hundreds of casual waste pickers bring plastics and aluminum cans to ParCo’s recycling center for small income. The materials are then sold on to producers who use the material as inputs to fabricate new goods.

beach cleanup

This team has been clearing the entire coast of Vilanculos every Saturday since 2018. They have now cleared over 50 tons of marine plastic and local litter from the ocean, 25% of which is channeled into the circular economy/recycling.

SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES

Rolling out Locally Managed Marine Areas set-up by the community and enforced by the by community fisheries councils and other livelihoods and biodiversity interventions.

Orphans and vulnerable children receive backpacks full of all the supplies they need to stay in school including uniforms and soap.

luz sunscreen project

Tourists donate sunscreen at the end of their holidays. Dozens of children and adults with albinism collect the sunscreen and other protective supplies to shield their sensitive skin from the sun.

Inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards through book workshops, art, and public speaking and actions in 18 schools across Vilanculos.

crafts and curios BUSINESS

In 2026 fishing communities will start building small craft businesses to generate alternative income sources to reduce multidimensional poverty and the pressure on fishstocks.
