SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES
THROUGH EFFECTIVE LOCAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
With support from the French Embassy through theis PISCCA program, we are working with six community fisheries councils and eight primary schools along the coast of Vilankulo to establish locally enforced norms to ensure sustainable fishing and environmental protection of coastal habitats. This includes strengthening the capacity of the councils, helping them establish LMMAs (Locally Managed Marine Areas) or reserves, providing environmental education programs in schools, organizing environmental cleanup campaigns and restoring mangrove habitats.
